Virginia Gold Cup Saturday, May 3rd at Great Meadows in The Plains. Gates open at 10 a.m. First race starts at 1 p.m. The Virginia Gold Cup is a grand spring tradition as welll as a fixture on the social calendar. Run in Fauquier County since 1922 and attended by over 45,000 spectators, this race is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the greater Washington metropolitan area. Race day features seven hurdle and timber horses races, Jack Russell Terrier races, tent, tailgate and hat contests, a parachute demonstration, and over 30 vendor booths for shopping. 49th Annual 4H Livestock Show and Sale to be held May 4th & 5th at the Fauquier Livestock Exchange. Rotary Club "TOP GUN" Sporting Clays Fund-Raiser May 10 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Alexander's Farm Range. The Rotary Club of Warrenton is hosting a "TOP GUN" sporting clays competition and auction to raise money for its college scholarship fund for area students. Prizes include a new shotgun valued at about $1000 and the club's traveling "TOP GUN" silver bowl trophy, plus additional donated prizes. Charity auction and refreshments to follow. The Marshall Volunteer Fire Department is holding their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament on June 27, 2008 at the Bowling Green Country Club located in Front Royal, VA. 2nd Capital Hospice Polo Cup Benefit Sunday, June 15 at the Historic Llangollen Estate.
